about me

I'm Logan (he/him), a high school student, programmer, musician, and fulltime goober from Aotearoa 🇳🇿. I usually use the handle 'logabe' online, however nobody can seem to pronounce it correctly (and even I'm not sure what the correct pronunciation would be) so I tend to use my real name nowadays. My first language is English, but I can also speak a little Japanese!
On the computer I can usually be found:

• Programming:
  • Languages: I'm most familiar with Rust, C#, and Python, but I often end up using JS, TS, or C++ for various projects.
  • Tools: I've been a Linux user for the past 6 or 7 years - at first because it was the only thing that would run on my laptop, but now it's what I'm most familiar and comfortable with. I currently use Arch Linux (which has it's own host of benefits and downsides) with the Plasma desktop environment.
    I use VSCodium as my code editor, and often use Godot for game development.
  • Some of my favourite things I've made with code are the book-sharing platform Mini Libraries and Two Crowns, a multiplayer tactical RPG.
• Listening to music: My taste is hard to define, but includes a lot of Pop, Jazz, and game soundtracks. Some of my fav albums: Jacob Collier's Djesse Vol 4, Starship Syncopation by Cory Wong, Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé, Vows by Kimbra, and Lena Raine's soundtrack to Celeste.
• Playing games: I don't play games that much these days but I have been playing through Hollow Knight: Silksong and Goomble Gurt II.
• and Surfing the 'net: I lowkey might be an Internet addict - it's so easy to have one question or see something cool and then go down a whole rabbit hole of discovery. I like looking at people's cool personal sites, and diving into that endless rabbit hole that is wikipedia.

• Playing music: I play the (Bass) Clarinet in my school's concert band, chamber quintet (as a replacement cellist), and big band. I love playing anything funky, jazzy, or 'big' sounding. Playing music with other people is always such a joy and is one of the things I look forward to. I've performed both regionally and internationally! I also play the Piano, but not very well.
• Reading books and manga: Some favs are A Song of Ice and Fire, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, His Dark Materials, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Stormlight Archives. I've also been reading some manga as of late - I'm currently reading Dandadan, Spy × Family, Sakamoto Days, アオのハコ, and the new Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo.
• Studying or hanging out with my friends: Call me a nerd but I... love going to school? I get to see my friends, meet new people, and learn about new stuff!
• Exploring and going for walks: I'm lucky to live in such a gorgeous country and I like going out alone or with friends and getting into nature... when my hay fever lets up 😭
